Baden, Germany, April 03, SPA --President Barack Obama said today that there is going to be a recalibration of trade patterns between the United States and partners such as Germany, according to AP. Obama said the trade imbalance with Germany is not Berlin's fault. Obama says Germany is simply making products that have a global demand. Standing next to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Obama said both countries need to make smart investments and excellent products. Obama and Merkel both say protectionism is not the answer. Instead, they need to work together to get the global economy moving and have fair competition. Obama is on an eight-day trip to Europe, his first as president.
