Sweden's three opposition parties said they would replace nuclear facilities with renewable energy sources if elected to run the country next year, according to UPI. Leaders of the Social Democrats, Green Party and Left party say Sweden's nuclear power capacity should be phased out and investments made in more efficient energy use, reported the Swedish news agency TT. In an opinion article Sunday in Dagens Nyheter, party leaders said Sweden already produces more than enough energy to supply the country's needs and the time has come for a "broad energy policy agreement." If elected next year, the opposition leaders said they would scrap the government's plan to build new nuclear plants to replace those set for decommissioning.
