U.S. President Barack Obama is set to nominate a moderate Indiana judge for a federal appeals court, the White House announced on Tuesday. The nomination, which is part of a shuffle in the U.S. federal judiciary, is of U.S. District Judge David Hamilton, who will serve on the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that covers Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana. Hamilton served as counsel to Democratic Senator Evan Bayh when he was governor. He is currently a U.S. District Court judge in Indianapolis. A senior administration official, who would only speak on background before the official announcement, said Indiana's Republican senator, Richard Lugar, told the White House he supports Hamilton.
