The Pediatric Department at the Riyadh Military Hospital will hold here a three-day First International symposium on "Pediatric & Adolescent Sleep Disorders". The Department will organize the symposium in cooperation with The Saudi Group for Sleep Medicine and GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) Thoracic Society. "Medical knowledge both in research and clinical practice has been expanding at a rapid pace over the last few decades, with more complex modalities of investigation and treatment. This Symposium presents an opportunity to discuss our experiences, current trends in the management of sleep disorders in children and adolescents, with our colleagues both here in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and from overseas, who are caring for pediatric patients," said Dr. Mosaed El Fehaid, the Director of the Department of Pediatrics. The symposium is designed to present a number of new topics in the field of Pediatric & adolescents sleep medicine. "During the symposium's deliberations, we will have a number of distinguished international guest speakers who will review the latest research, and provide practical information on subjects from circadian rhythm disorders and narcolepsy to OSA and SIDS, as well as sleep disturbances in children with chronic medical illnesses," said Dr. Adel S Al Harbi, Consultant Pediatric Pulmonologist, Riyadh Military Hospital Chairperson of Organizing & Scientific Committees. "This Symposium is the first of its kind outside North America. It is designed for a wide spectrum of clinicians, nurses, therapists, technicians and health care providers in the field of Pediatrics and Adolescent medicine," he added.
