China's foreign minister said that leaders at a global economic meeting next month must boost the confidence of a worried world, The Associated Press reported. Yang Jiechi added that heads of state at the Group of 20 countries summit in London have to «make sure that people will look at the bright side of our efforts.» Yang spoke at a Washington think tank just ahead of a Thursday meeting with President Barack Obama. He is calling for better governance of financial institutions and says the United States and China should set a good example by fighting protectionism. He says the powers must broaden economic cooperation during tough times. Obama and Chinese President Hu Jintao plan to meet on the sidelines of the summit. It will be the first such meeting since Obama took office in January.
