A militant group says it has fought off an attack by Nigerian troops on one of its camps in the country's oil-rich southern region, according to AP. The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta said in an e-mailed statement that the dawn attack Thursday in southern Rivers State left at least six soldiers dead and three of its fighters wounded. The military wasn't immediately available for comment. Previous military raids on militant camps have touched off wider violence in the restive and oil-rich Niger Delta region of Africa's biggest crude producer.
