The Sri Lankan government said defense forces in Colombo downed two rebel Tamil Tiger aircraft which attacked the Sri Lankan capital on Friday. A report by Reuters said that the attacking planes bombed a tax building, injuring at least 27 people. "One plane dropped a bomb on the Inland Revenue building in Fort which resulted in the building catching on fire," defense spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said. Military officials said at least 27 people were taken to hospital after the tax building blast, which came during a hail of anti-aircraft fire that was visible over central Colombo. "We have shot one down in Katunayake and found the wreckage and the body of the pilot," Rambukwella said later, referring to the international airport just outside Colombo.
