The power of integration and Saudi Aramco's major downstream strategies were key themes voiced by Nasser D. Al-Mahasher, general manager of Saudi Petroleum Ltd. — Tokyo, at a recent Japan Cooperation Center Petroleum (JCCP) 27th International Symposium, according to a report carried yesterday by Saudi Aramco's web-site. In his keynote speech, “Hydrocarbon Development in Saudi Arabia: Maximizing Value, Maximizing Benefits,” Al-Mahasher emphasized Saudi Aramco's efforts in the area of oil refining and petrochemical integration, such as Petro Rabigh and projects being studied at Ras Tanura and other locations. His remarks were echoed by Sumitomo Chemical representatives, who also spoke about the Petro Rabigh development and its significance. Al-Mahasher took note of the current global economic downturn, but said, “I remain bullish on the prospects for the global oil industry and feel privileged to continue playing the liaison role between Saudi Aramco and the hydrocarbon industries in Japan as well as this part of the world.” --MORE
