OIC' secretary general Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsan Oglu has lauded the agreement of good insertions signed by the Sudanese Government and the Just and Equality Movement (JEM) yesterday in Doha under the patronage of Qatar and the UN and African Union joint mediator. He noted that the agreement constitutes an important development towards reaching a just and comprehensive agreement for ending the dispute in Darfur and enhancing the unity and stability of Sudan. Professor Oglu urged the international community to extend support to the agreement, and said the OIC would remain committed to the implementation of the decisions of the Islamic Summit, held in Dakar, pertaining to the reconstruction of Darfur.
