Health officials in Vietnam have confirmed four cases of bird flu in Soc Trang Province where free-range ducks could make containment difficult, UPI reported. Local authorities are asking the public to keep an eye on the wandering water fowl so they can quickly cull sick birds, Voice of Vietnam Radio reported Today. More than 6,500 ducks and chickens have been destroyed in the effort to prevent the spread of the H5N1 virus in the Mekong Delta province.
