The Kyrgyzstan parliament today was considering a government move to terminate deals with countries that use a U.S. airbase in Bishkek, UPI quoted officials as saying. The government of President Kurmanbek Bakiyev says it has submitted a bill to end the agreements with the United States and 10 other countries that use the airbase at Manas airport, RIA Novisti reported. Bakiyev announced plans to close down the base after Feb. 3 talks in Moscow, where he secured large amounts of financial aid from Russia. The Bishkek base has used to support NATO operations in nearby Afghanistan since 2001, the news service said.
