Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz, President of the Arab Gulf Programme for United Nations Development Organizations (AGFUND), has launched the creativity bank for financing small enterprises here today in the presence of Shaikha Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of the King of Bahrain and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) and Sheikh Ibrahim bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Bahraini Minister of Housing and Chairman of the Creativity bank. The inaugural celebration started with a speech by Shaikha Sabeeka who lauded Prince Talal's humanitarian and developmental efforts and said that Bahrain hosts this AGFUND-founded bank that goes along with SCW humanitarian and strategic goals. In a key address, Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz lauded Bahrain's approval of founding the first bank of the poor in a GCC country. He noted the positive attitude of Bahrain towards AGFUND developmental projects. He stated that registering the Creativity Bank for giving micro-credit indicates Bahrain's openness to scientific and practical solutions of the development problems. For his part, Sheikh Ibrahim bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of the Creativity Bank, underscored the role of the first micro-credit bank in the region in providing its services to the people with limited income, creating jobs for women and helping them depend on themselves, particularly in small enterprises.
