Published in Saudi Press Agency on 29 - 01 - 2009

Visiting Saudi Minister of Culture and Information Iyad bin Amin Madani and Tunisian Minister of Communications Rafea Dakheel signed an executive program for information cooperation between the Kingdom and Tunisia for the period 2009 - 2011 at the end of a working session held here today, described by Madani, in statements following the meeting, as a renewal of previous executive programs between the two countries.
Madani arrived in the Tunisian capital of Tunis last night on a two-day official visit to Tunisia.
The meeting was attended by a number of officials.
At the outset of the meeting, the Tunisian Minister welcomed the visit of the Minister of Culture and Information to Tunisia, stressing the importance of the media cooperation program between the two countries as a basis for cooperation, covering all areas of media and the need to follow-up its implementation and activation.
He reviewed some aspects of the fruitful media cooperation between the two countries in the fields of radio, television, news agencies, training and archiving.
For his part, Madani expressed happiness to visit Tunisia, praising the existing relations between the two countries, and underscoring the importance of the executive program for media cooperation and suggests that it opens prospects for cooperation and forges the framework for action plans, though it is not confined to certain areas for bilateral cooperation.
He briefed the audience on the important results reached by the Islamic Information Ministers Conference recently held in Morocco, focusing on the resolutions of restructuring the Islamic News Agency (INA) and the Islamic States Broadcasting Union (ISBU) on scientific basis and modern professionalism.
He also referred to the success achieved by the Arab States Broadcasting Union, which held its latest session in the Kingdom.
