The Saudi-Japanese workshop on protection of intellectual property was inaugurated here today. The workshop is patronized by the Saudi Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in coordination with the Japanese foreign trade commission and in cooperation with the international forum for the protection of the rights of the intellectual property. The participants of the workshop reviewed aspects of cooperation and coordination for confronting the phenomenon of commercial fraud and counterfeiting. They agreed on the importance of cooperation of the private and public sectors for confronting this dangerous phenomenon. In 2007, the volume of trade exchanges between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Japan amounted to SR 163,570 million. The exports amounted to SR 134,007 million while the imports accounted for SR 29, 563 million.
