A 52-year-old woman died in Barcelona Friday when a wall collapsed on her in the midst of a strong storm, eyewitnesses quoted by dpa as reporting. The storm, with wind gusts reaching 100 kilometres per hour, also ripped the roofs off a school and a swimming pool in Gandia, south of Valencia. The bulk of the storm's brunt was felt in northern Spain, with mudslides, fallen trees and flooding blocking streets. About 800 schools remained shuttered due to the storm in the state of Galicia. Forecasts said the winds could reach speeds of 150 kilometres per hour.
