Republican lawmakers on Wednesday forced the Senate Judiciary Committee to delay for one week a vote to confirm President Barack Obama's nominee for attorney general, Eric Holder. Holder appears likely to win confirmation by the full Senate, but committee Republicans invoked their right for a one-time, one-week postponement of the scheduled vote. Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, the top ranking Republican on the panel, said Republican committee members wanted more time to examine Holder's nomination.
