Australia's navy intercepted a boat carrying 20 suspected asylum seekers on a vessel in the Indian Ocean, ap quoted officials as saying . The boat was intercepted Saturday about 24 miles (39 kilometers) from Ashmore Island, off Australia's northwestern shore, Home Affairs Minister Bob Debus said in a statement. The group was taken to Christmas Island, a remote Australian territory in the Indian Ocean where the government runs an immigration detention camp for health, security and identity checks, Debus said. The nationalities of the people are not yet known, Debus' spokeswoman Samantha Wills said.
