The German-Yemeni Dialogue Conference „Re-approaching Reality – The Perception of the Other in the Relations between the Western and the Islamic Worlds“ will be held in Sana'a next Tuesday, Saba reported. In a press release, the German embassy in Sana'a said on Sunday that the conference will be opened by German Ambassador Michael Klor-Berchtold, Rector of Sana'a University, Prof. Dr. Khaled Tamim, and Resident Director of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Felix Eikenberg. "The conference will address the perception of cultural, religious and ethnic differences as a central component in every society. This perception is not only important for the construction of the images we have of other cultures and nations but also for defining our own identities. When it comes to the perception of each other in the relations of „the West“ and „the Islamic World“, crude prejudices and oversimplifications often prevail", the statement reported.
