Russia's gas export monopoly Gazprom said today that talks with Ukraine over debt and gas prices for 2009 have failed, making a cut-off of gas to Ukraine in 12 hours unavoidable, according to Reuters. Gazprom's Chief Executive Alexei Miller told a news conference Gazprom would suspend supplies to Ukraine at 0700 GMT but added it would do its best to guarantee stable supplies of gas to Europe via the territory of Ukraine.
