Calling for the formation of a special task force for combating all forms of terrorism under the umbrella of the United Nations, Prince Saud al-Faisal, the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said terrorism is an international problem. In his meetings today with Indian National Security Advisor Narayanan, Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs E. Ahmad, and Vice President Mohammad Hamed Ansari, Prince Saud Al-Faisal conveyed to the Indian leadership and people the condemnation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Saudi government and people of the terrorist attacks that took place in Mumbai recently. Further expressing the Kingdom's position which condemns all forms of terrorism, he also offered the Kingdom's condolences for the victims of the recent attacks of Mumbai which led to the killing and injury of tens of people. For their part, the Indian officials expressed thanks to and appreciation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their support for the Republic of India. In a joint press conference with the Indian Foreign Minister, the Saudi Foreign Minister stated the Kingdom's position against terrorism, noting that terrorism aims at two main things: instigating conflicts and creating sedition between countries. "We should work together to counter this dangerous international phenomenon, forbid it from achieving its objectives and uproot it", he said. Prince Saud presented to the Indian officials copy of the recommendations of the International Counter Terrorism Conference which was held in Riyadh in February 2005, including a proposal by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to establish an international center to combat terrorism. He highlighted the projected role for the center within the international efforts to fight the phenomenon. Prince Saud was accompanied by Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Dr. Khaled Al-Jindan; Director General of the Minister's Office Hamad Al-Fares; and Manager of Information Department Osama Nugali.
