President and CEO Abdallah S. Jum‘ah and his successor, Khalid A. Al-Falih, accompanied by Salim S. Al-Aydh, senior vice president of Engineering and Project Management, has visited Saudi Aramco's Research and Development Center (R&DC) to see firsthand the center's many developments and to share their opinions about its importance and its progress. “This visit showed just how committed our Corporate Management is to support research and development and its mission,” said R&DC manager Omar S. Abdulhamid. “Their support is especially important now as we move ahead with our key programs, such as desulfurization, new fuel formulations being tested in our combustion lab and carbon management.” The executives' tour included the computational center, the pilot plants and the combustion lab. They heard progress reports on carbon management and the production of hydrogen from oil. At the end of the visit, Jum‘ah spoke to the assembled R&DC employees. He recalled a visit to an overseas research facility, where he was inspired to have similar, if not better, capabilities at Saudi Aramco. He said he was pleased to be able to say that in the three years since that visit, the situation is reversed. Now during his travels, he is proud to describe Saudi Aramco's R&D work and that people everywhere are “flabbergasted” to hear about the advanced work the company is doing. --MORE
