Rioting took place again in the Greek capital-Athens overnight, according to a report of DPA. Violence began shortly after a memorial commemoration Saturday night at the site where 15-year-old Alexandros Grigoropoulos was killed by a policeman two weeks ago. Around 150 masked youths broke off from the memorial, had headed to the Athens Technical University to attack police and property with Molotov cocktails as well as set fire to rubbish bins. Police reacted with tear gas. Among the buildings attacked were two banks, a police training facility car park and two further state buildings, reports said Sunday. There was said to be extensive damage to the buildings and seven police cars were destroyed. According to state television NET, there were no reported injuries. In other parts of Greece, a number of local radio stations were temporarily taken over by demonstrators, who used them to broadcast statements against the police, nepotism and consumerism. The radio occupations were all said to have ended peacefully. In the coastal city of Thessaloniki, demonstrators took over a cinema, while others attacked the city's mayor with paste. More than 100 people have been injured and about 400 have been detained during two weeks of protests in Greece triggered by the police shooting death of the teenager. Hundreds of shops and banks have been firebombed, vandalized and looted.
