Under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Prince Khalid Alfaisal bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Makkah Region, opened here today the 9th Makkah conference organized by the Muslim World League on the subject of explaining Islam in non-Muslim countries. A group of scholars, intellectuals and Islamic universities' professors will participate in the three-day conference. A speech ceremony was held on the occasion. The speakers included the chairman of the scholarly committee of the conference Dr. Ahmad bin Nafia' Almoraa'i, former undersecretary of Alazhar Dr. Omar Aldeen Mohammad Mahmood, Secretary General of Muslim World League Dr. Abdullah Alturki. Dr. Omar Aldeen Mohammad Mahmood delivered a speech on behalf of the participants in the conference thanking the king for his patronage of the conference and the Saudi government and people for the services provided to the pilgrims. In his speech, Dr. Alturki wished success for the conference and thanked the king for his patronage of the conference and Prince Khalid for opening it. The Grand Mufti of the kingdom Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Alsheikh delivered a speech in which he underlined the importance of explaining Islam correctly and moderately away from extremism. Prince Khalid Alfaisal delivered a speech in which he highlighted Saudi Arabia's following of Islam since its unification by the late King Abdulaziz, its care for the development of the holy sites and its facilitation of Hajj. Prince Khalid reviewed Saudi efforts to promote dialogue and highlighted Saudi success in confronting the crimes of terrorism by successive security preemptive actions. He added that the kingdom is continuing its confrontation of the deviant thought and called for collective Islamic efforts to fight it.
