The State Duma lower house of the Russian parliament on Friday approved the final, 3rd reading of the president-proposed amendments to the Constitution extending the presidential term in office from four to six years, Itar-Tass reported. The amendments also extend the office term for Duma lawmakers from the current four to five years. The house voted 392-57 to support the bill. The minimal number of votes to pass the amendments is 300. Medvedev submitted the amendments to the State Duma on November 11.
