A suicide car bomber blew himself up outside a government office compound in Afghanistan's eastern Khost province Thursday, killing one other person and wounding at least 13 others, AP quoted officials as saying. The car appeared to be trying to enter the gate of the compound but the driver detonated the explosives when police blocked the vehicle, said provincial Police Chief Gen. Abdul Qayum Baquizai. Baquizai said the attacker died in the initial explosion and 14 people were wounded. One of the wounded civilians later died in the hospital, said Dr. Amir Pacha, a doctor at the hospital. The NATO-led International Security Assistance Force, which has a building near the blast site, said two of their soldiers were injured in the attack and said they had reports of Afghans injured as well, but had no reports of any deaths. It was unclear whether the international soldiers were among the wounded reported by the Afghan official.
