British Telecom (BT) announced Thursday that it would cut a total of 10,000 jobs in the current financial year, as part of an ongoing efficiency programme, according to dpa. The company said it had already cut 4,000 jobs, with plans to cut a further 6,000 between now and March 2009. BT said it was reducing its dependence on consultants and contractors. BT has a global workforce of 160,000.
