The Red Crescent Society of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has opened the Emirates Centre in the Yemeni district of Edid to provide relief assistance to the people affected by the floods which hit Yemen. The center's opening came under directives of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan; General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the RCA. The centre will also act as a point for medical convoys and vaccination campaigns to protect people in the affected areas from epidemics and water-borne diseases, according to a report of the UAE news agency "WAM".
