A government adviser says the Iraqi Cabinet has canceled a meeting planned to discuss the U.S.-Iraqi security pact that's under negotiation. It's the latest setback to U.S. hopes to reach agreement on a deal that would extend the presence of American forces beyond the end of this year, Associated Press reported. Sadiq al-Rikabi says Sunday's extraordinary meeting was canceled because proposals for amendments to an earlier draft were still coming in. He says the Cabinet will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday. The pact would replace the U.N. mandate providing a legal basis for foreign forces in Iraq and expires Dec. 31.
