The activities of a Symposium entitled "Fight against osteoporosis" organized by the Saudi Orthopedics Association began here today. More than 320 doctors and specialists in bone diseases from various health sectors are attending the symposium. More than 30 papers and research works in the field of osteoporosis in the Kingdom in terms of treatment, diagnosis and combating the spread of the disease between the sexes as well as the use of modern treatments will be the highlight of the Symposium. Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the symposium and rheumatic diseases consultant Dr. Osama Haji, said the osteoporosis symposium coincide with the World Osteoporosis Week now in progress, pointing to the higher proportion of people living with this disease in the Kingdom as a result of bad food habits such as junk food and lack of exposure to sunlight in adequate proportion, and lack of exercise.
