Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio, 58, of France has won this year's Nobel prize for literature, the Swedish Academy announced in Stockholm on Wednesday, reported dpa. "The citation is for an author of new departures, poetic adventure and sensual ecstasy, an explorer of a humanity beyond and below the reining civilization." He was born April 13, 1940. Roughly 12 of his works have been translated into English. His most recent work was The Wandering Star: A novel.
