Israeli conflict continues to dominate and prevail over all issues of the Middle East. There is no regional conflict more influential on the world peace than this one. The problem is exacerbated by the absence of good intentions of the Israeli government which instead of seriously searching for peace, it continues to acquire more Palestinian land, as well as the daily humiliation of the Palestinian people and building more illegal settlements to create new facts on the ground". The Prince added, "The Israeli settlements that change the geographical and demographic situation of the occupied Palestinian territories, clearly contradict the principles of international law, relevant United Nations resolutions, the obligations of the Road Map and Annapolis process. Israeli settlements surround most cities of the West Bank and take nearly half of its water resources. In East Jerusalem, excavations and construction are continuing unabated including what is happening in Al-Magharibah Gate." He said, "In short, Israeli settlements make it virtually impossible to envision the establishment of a viable Palestinian state in the future and make it extremely difficult for any Palestinian government to act effectively or to convince the Palestinians of the possibility of achieving peace. It is immoral to impose sanctions on the people suffering under the occupation, while the occupation authorities continue settlement activities secure of accountability.'' --More
