Four Russian soldiers were shot dead in the southern region of Ingushetia on Wednesday, Reuters quoted Russian news agencies as reporting. The bodies of the four interior ministry servicemen were found with gunshot wounds by an armed patrol near the village of Galashki on Wednesday afternoon, Vasily Panchenkov, the aide to Russia's interior troops commander, told Interfax news agency. A source in the investigative department of the Ingush prosecutor's office told Interfax later that the soldiers had probably been shot from a nearby forest. Four servicemen and three gunmen were killed in a clash in Ingushetia on Tuesday.
