Sheikh Salih bin Mohammed Al-Liheidan, the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, responding to a question from the Saudi television about the row on a fatwa he had earlier given through the Holy Quran Radio and carried by some media organs. The fatwa was about the programs of some satellite channels during the blessed month of Ramadan, Sheikh Al-Liheidan said, adding that what was carried out by the satellite channels and the biased persons in this context, seemed to be concerning the history of his life. Sheikh Al-Liheidan noted that he graduated from the faculty of shariah in 1379 AH, and in 1380 he was appointed at the office of the then the general Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sheikh Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-sheikh. In 1383 AH, he was transferred to the court of Riyadh and in 1384 he became the chairman of the court and stayed there up to 1391 AH. Then he was transferred to the higher judicial commission which later turned into the supreme judicial council. In the field of judicial work and Ifta, Sheikh Al-Liheidan said he spent more than 50 years. As regards education and knowledge, he said he read important books in the field of Hadeeth (the Prophet's sayings). "I used to enjoy only one month of holiday during my working years, and I failed to come to office only twice on health grounds, " he said. "My work was appreciated by the Kingdom's senior Ulema notably Sheikh Mohammed bin Ib, "him Al Al-sheikh; Sheikh Abdel-Raziq Afifi; Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Baz and Sheikh Abdullah bin Humeid, and I have been a member of the commission of senior Ulema since 1391, " he elaborated. "Thanks to Allah Almighty I established good relations with the Kings of Saudi Arabia," he said noting that he was a 23 year-old when King Abdulaziz died. --MORE
