U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Friday that Russia is «deepening its isolation» by not honoring commitments it has made regarding Georgia, and warned the country to change its behavior ahead of a key visit to Moscow by France's president, AP reported. «I am quite certain that Russia will understand that it is deepening its isolation and that it will have no way out unless it honors its commitments and begins to change its behavior,» Rice said at a joint news conference with her Portuguese counterpart. «I believe that we actually together are making it difficult for Russia to achieve the strategic objectives that it had when it set out to invade its small neighbor,» she said. The U.S. secretary of state stopped in Lisbon en route to Libya. Portuguese Foreign Minister Luis Amado added that it was crucial the West stay united in its dealings with Russia, saying at the Friday appearance that: «It would be a really dangerous situation if we fracture.»
