An unknown number of people were burned to death after a fuel tanker overturned and exploded in Cameroon, UPI quoted witnesses as saying. The BBC said Friday that the explosion occurred after another vehicle attempted to move past the overturned tanker truck, causing the tanker's escaping fuel to ignite. Thursday's incident began when the tanker crashed in Cameroon's Far North Province and overturned, leaking large amounts of fuel. At least 30 area residents quickly arrived at the scene to help remove the escaping fuel from the downed vehicle, the BBC said. Many of those individuals were caught in the ensuing explosion caused by the other vehicle. The BBC said an estimated 18 people were taken to the hospital with various injuries.
