The seventh tropical depression of the Atlantic hurricane season has formed in the central Caribbean, and is heading for the Dominican Republic and Haiti, AP reported. At 11 a.m. EDT (1500 GMT) on Monday, the center of the storm was located about 260 miles (420 kilometers) southeast of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The depression was moving toward the northwest near 15 mph (24 kph) with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph (56 kph). The National Hurricane Center predicts a gradual decrease in speed over the next day or two. Forecasters say the center of the storm will be moving near or over southwestern Haiti on Tuesday. The Dominican Republic and Haiti have both issued tropical storm warnings for the southern and western parts of the island shared by the two countries.
