Eight companies have been short-listed to submit proposals for a 25 per cent strategic stake in Oman Telecommunications Co. SAOG (Omantel), the Ministry of Finance said yesterday. The short-listed companies included European, Asian and regional telecom operators who will submit technical and financial proposals for a stake in Omantel, the biggest phone operator in the Sultanate. The ministry's advisers have expressed a high degree of satisfaction with the outcome of the pre-qualification process which evoked serious and strong interest from highly credible and reputed global and regional telecom operators, the ministry was quoted as saying by Times of Oman.
