Quds, August 18, SPA -- The Grand Mufti of Al-Quds and Palestinian Territories and Khateeb of Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Mohammed Hussain called Monday on all Muslims to faithfully support the Holy Mosque of Al-Aqsa. The 21st of August 2004 marks the 39th anniversary of the atrocious arson attempt carried out against the Blessed Mosque by Israeli extremists on 21/08/1969. New grave threats from Israeli extremists are emerging to destroy the Blessed Aqsa Mosque. In a statement today, on the occasion of 39th commemoration of the burning of the Holy Mosque of Al-Aqsa, the Mufti said that the burning of the Al Aqsa Mosque under the occupation forces require all Muslims world-wide to stand shoulder to shoulder in support of their mosque and sanctities. "The Palestinian people, on their own, had extinguished the fire that had engulfed The Holy Mosque and defended it by all means at their disposal. The entire Islamic nation must now come to save this blessed mosque and the holy sites in Al-Quds (Jerusalem) and throughout Palestine, which are now facing the dangers of Judaization and demolitions. "This anniversary coincides with the surging settlements against the city of Al-Quds and other parts of Palestine, which are aimed at changing the demographic parameters and Judaization of the holy city and obliterating the Arab and Islamic presence and imposing a fait accompli at the Al Aqsa Mosque, along the lines of what happened in the Ibrahimi Mosque as well as the current excavations and digging works beneath the walls and corridors of the Holy Mosque of Al-Aqsa which are blatant attempts at demolishing the Mosque and building the alleged Temple Mount over the holy Mosque's ruins.
