Russia shot down two Georgian spy drones over South Ossetia on Wednesday and one overnight, the Russian defence ministry said, according to ANTARA. "Despite the assurances from the Georgian side that they have ended all military activities, three Georgian drones have been shot by Russian forces -- one overnight and two during the course of today," a ministry spokesman said. Georgia accused Russia on Wednesday of breaking a European Union brokered ceasefire, a charge denied by Moscow. Fighting erupted last Thursday when Tbilisi sent forces to retake Georgia`s breakaway region of South Ossetia, which threw off central rule in the 1990s and declared itself independent, albeit without international recognition.
