Dengue fever has killed 18 people so far this year in Laos, Xinhua quoted Lao newspaper Vientiane Times as reporting. Laos has spotted over 1,900 cases of dengue fever infections, including the 18 fatalities since the beginning of this year, the newspaper quoted statistics from the country's National Center for Laboratory and Epidemiology as reporting. Lao healthcare agencies have established mobile teams in localities nationwide to raise public awareness about the importance of destroying the habitat of mosquitoes, the disease's transmitter, and their larvae. Local people are advised to clear thick bushes around houses, sleep in insecticide-treated mosquito nets, keep old tins upside-down, and change water in vases regularly.
