Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos, said, here Monday, that his country "backs the efforts made by the United Nations Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy" to settle the Sahara issue. Moratinos, who made the statement following a meeting with his Moroccan counterpart Taieb Fassi Fihri, underlined that his country supported the latest resolution of the Security Council, which is pragmatic, and that Spain supports pursuing negotiations by holding a fifth round, according to a report of the Moroccan news agency "Magreb Arabe Press". Since June 2007, delegations from Morocco, Polisario, Algeria and Mauritania took part, in Manhasset, New York outskirts, in four rounds of UN-led talks, in the presence of Peter van Walsum, in his capacity as facilitator of negotiations.
