Guyana is getting US$7 million from the United Nations to boost production of spices, meat and tropical fruits for export and local consumption, AP reported. More than 5,000 rural farmers will share the aid, while the government spends an additional US$1 million, in part to improve roads between farms and local markets. The agricultural grant is the second Guyana has received from the U.N. this week.
