The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has received 10 cars fitted with hybrid engines to join the Dubai Taxi fleet, the UAE news agency "WAM" reported. "Adding hybrid cars to the Dubai Taxi fleet shows the RTA's commitment to improve the environment as the new cars help minimize environmental and noise pollution, " said Abdul Aziz Malek, Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai Taxi Agency. The cars will be tested by the taxi service for six months before more are added to the fleet. "The RTA is currently conducting a complete overhaul of mass transit systems in the emirate to make them environment-friendly, " said Malek.
