Director of Cultural and Islamic Center in Madrid Dr. Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Zayd, described the Word Conference on Dialogue to be held in Madrid from 16-18 July as an important historical event that gains importance from the fact that its idea was based on a kind initiative of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud which was adopted by the recently-concluded International Islamic Conference on Dialogue held in Makkah with the participation of more than 500 prominent dignitaries. In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Al-Zayd said the World Conference on Dialogue comes at a time the world needs concerted efforts to bring about peace, understanding and tolerance among mankind. Hence, the call came from the King of humanity Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and was launched from the Kingdom who was known to be a precedent to do such jobs over recent history. He attributed the decision, choosing Spain as venue of the event, to the historical status of the country for the followers of divine religions and its firm position towards peace, stability and co-existence. He cited its hosting of Madrid Peace conference in 1991 and Euro-Mediterranean Dialogue conference in 1995.
