Vice President Dick Cheney, who has a history of heart problems, underwent his annual medical checkup Saturday at George Washington University Hospital. Press secretary Megan Mitchell says the physical is routine and that the vice president feels fine overall. The 67-year-old Cheney has had four heart attacks, quadruple bypass surgery, two artery-clearing angioplasties and an operation to implant a defibrillator. After his physical exam last July, Cheney had surgery to replace the defibrillator, which monitors his heartbeat. In November, he experienced an irregular heartbeat. Doctors administered an electrical shock to his heart to restore it to a normal rhythm. His health issues have not prevented Cheney from traveling. In the spring, the vice president took a more than weeklong trip that included stops in Afghanistan, Iraq and Israel.
