Around 307 new cases of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) have been reported in El Salvador following "National HIV Test Day" on June 27, Xinhua reported. The testing campaign was carried out free of charge at Salvadoran Institute for Social Security (ISSS) clinics. A total of 55,016 Salvadorans were tested for the virus, and among those who tested positive, 56 percent were men, the Health Ministry said. The ministry added that a total of 949 HIV cases had been detected up to June in El Salvador this year. The first testing campaign was launched late June 2007. Of the 54,619 people tested, 378 came out positive.
