A Symposium on Muslim Communities and Minorities in Asia, which concluded three-day works in Seoul on Monday, adopted key recommendations for implementing a host of strategies likely to help build up a better political and social-economic future for Muslim minorities across Asia. A final communique issued at the end of its in-depth deliberations on upliftment and betterment of Muslim minorities said the First Symposium on Muslim Communities and Minorities in Asia was convened in Seoul under the auspices of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and was organized in the South Korean capital in cooperation with the Federation of Korean Muslims. Highlighting major political conflicts affecting Muslim communities in some Asian countries, namely the Philippines, Myanmar, Thailand and Sri Lanka, the final communiqué appealed to the OIC General Secretariat to continue its efforts to resolve the lingering conflicts in this part of the world. --MORE
