Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Secretary General of General Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, has announced that the International Heritage Committee of the UNESCO approved the site of Alhijr (Madaen Salih) as part of the International Heritage List which includes more than 851 cultural and natural sites of exceptional value for the human heritage. The approval was made during the 32nd session of the committee being held currently in, Quebec, Canada. The Alhijr (Madaen Salih) site is the first Saudi that is included in this list. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency on this occasion, Prince Sultan bin Salman extended thanks to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz, the Interior Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Commission, and members of the board for their support in this field.
