EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana said on Monday he hopes to meet Iran's chief nuclear negotiator this month after Tehran handed over a response to an incentives package aimed at curbing its nuclear programme. Solana delivered the revised package by the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany to the Islamic Republic last month in a fresh bid to convince Iran to halt sensitive nuclear work, Reuters reported. Iran submitted its written response on Friday and its chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili stressed "common ground" in a conversation with Solana in which he also requested a meeting. A Solana spokeswoman said the European Union official was willing to meet Jalili. "Yes, before the end of the month, I hope, " Solana told reporters when asked if he would meet Jalili within weeks. "We are still talking among ourselves. We will have a response soon," Solana added, as he arrived for a security conference in Paris.
