The euro fell Friday against the U.S. dollar, but remained near its record high in the wake of poor economic data from Washington and skyrocketing oil prices, according to AP. The 15-nation euro bought US$1.5734 in morning European trading, down from US$1.5760 late Thursday in New York and the record US$1.6018 it hit in April. The British pound fell slightly to US$1.9855 from US$1.9877 the night before, while the dollar rose to purchase 106.89 Japanese yen from 106.66 yen in New York.
